Female Bateleur (Terathopius ecaudatus) calling to her mate nearby in the Kruger National Park, South Africa

An impressive looking bird of prey, this female Bateleur (Terathopius ecaudatus) eagle resting on a dead branch in the early morning sun. Her mate was nearby on the nest and they were often calling to each other. It was mid winter at the time this shot was taken and the nights were cold, so most animals seemed to take their time to warm up in the morning. The Kruger National Park, South Africa
