The Yellow-throated Sandgrouse specialises in arid medium altitude grasslands and pairs nest far from water. When they nest their share incubation duties so the other can fly off to drink. When chicks hatch they are dependant on the parents, especially the male, returning with water ladened breast feather which they will drink from.
