T-33A disassembled in Montana ANG hangar. Sleek design of this straight winged trainer was by Lockheed’s “Kelly” Johnson to help solve some of the training issues present with his P-80. Notably the P-80 didn’t enter service during World War II but it was victorious in the first jet to jet dogfight. The P-80 downed a MIG-15 over Korea in 1950. The MIG-15 powered by a Russian copy of the Allison J33-A-35 in the P-80 Extensive maintenance and repair was done before the T-33s were transferred to Foreign Military Sales and their final destination in Mexico.
