Buckley Building, London, United Kingdom. Architect: BuckleyGrayYeoman, 2014. Close-up of sloped washbasin with faucets.

Derwent London commissioned BuckleyGrayYeoman to refurbish this 100,000 sq ft office building in the heart of the Clerkenwell Conservation Area. The existing building was constructed as a series of factory units in the 1930s and later converted to office use in the late 1980s. BuckleyGrayYeoman’s design approach is one of subtle enhancement. The practice has upgraded and modernised the existing building by removing its 1980s additions and returning it to the spirit of its original architecture. The work involved introducing new cores, infilling the existing atrium and relocating the entrance/reception to face out on to Clerkenwell Green.
