Soudan Underground Mine State Park

Soudan, Minnesota - The former Steel Soudan iron ore mine, now the Soudan Underground Mine State Park. Visitors can descend half a mile underground to tour the mine or visit the Soudan Underground Laboratory where scientists research the fundamental structure of the universe. Tour guide Laura Chickdrum stands next to a "men only" sign from the mine's operating days when women would not have been in the mine.
