One of the type ofwhich several were constructed by the St. Louis Car Companyfor use in London is among the exhibits. The distinctive fea-ture of this car is that it is a double-decker, the roof beingutilized to carry as many passengers as the interior. Accessto the upper deck is gained by stairways on each platform. Thecar is elegantly finished throughout, the windows being sup-plied with draped curtains. Similar in many ways is the next. THE BEGGS PRIVATE CAR AND CAR NO. 300 OF CALIFORNIACOMBINATION TYPE FOR THE PACIFIC ELECTRICRAILWAY COMPANY exhibit. This is a car made for use in Dublin, Ireland, and islikewise double-decked. Of rnore than usual interest to the car builder and user isthe car for the New York subway, built for the InterboroughRapid Transit Company. The copper sheathing below the beltrail, together with the decrease in width at the eaves, makesthe car distinctive in appearance from the many around it. Itwas constructed according to very rigid specifications, everyprecaution being taken against possible crushing or telescoping
