The crocus is a popular Spring flowering corm with funnel shaped to rounded long tubed flowers. Has long very narrow semi erect basal leaves each with a white line along centre. Ideal in rock gardens and slight forcing in container for indoor display. Saffron is made from the dried stigma of the crocus. This orange yellow flavouring and food colouring powder is expensive and used in cooking.
