A barge heads north from Brownsville, Texas to Corpus Christi via the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway near Port Mansfield, Texas. The waterway, dredged in the Laguna Madre in the early 1950's, is the shortest and fastest shipping route up the Texas Gulf Coast.
