Memorial and Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau I B&W.

Black and white portrait of the Memorial and Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau I. POW's in this area of the camp would need to be careful so as not to accidentally kill themselves touching the electrified fence. Unfortunately in very desperate times POW's would deliberately throw themselves at the fences or grab a hold of them just to end their misery quickly. Even the guards were afraid of touching the fences of which they would keep to the middle and ensure that their hands and arms are kept as close to their body at all times. One false move, and death was instant
