The Soldiers were part of a study that the Company D “Dragons,” 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division spearheaded for the 2nd ABCT, in conjunction with Army Training and Doctrine Command, and the Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine. The study’s purpose was to conduct a thorough evaluation, gathering as much scientific data as possible on what it takes to accomplish certain physically demanding tasks deemed inherent to four different combat military occupation specialties. The intent is to hopefully allow the Army to develop ‘gender neutral physical standards.’ These validated standards are intended to shape future recruiting and accessions of both males and females into the evaluated MOSs.
