ILLINOIS VOLUNTEER INFANTRY. 219 August 26th.—Some of our boats returned from a trip tothe mouth of the Yazoo river, when they met, coming out,the rebel steamer, Fair Play, which was bound for LittleRock, by way of the Arkansas river, with arms and ammu-nition for Hindmans army. There were on board five thou-sand new rifles and a battery of field artillery. It may put usout some, but we are going to try and use these things and sosave General Hindman the trouble.
