Ajanta caves, Vihara, Maharashtra, India, c1925. Ajanta is a village in the hills of central Maharashtra. The area contains 30 caves, the earliest dating from 200 BC to 200 AD which comprise halls and dormitories with walls covered with fresco paintings.
