Communication Tunnel in Tel Faher
Communication tunnel trench in an old Syrian fortification in Tel Faher. The Golan Heights were the setting for bitter battles between Israel and Syria in the Six Day war and the Yom Kippur war in 1967 and in 1973 respectively. Today the Golan Heights is strewn with memorial sites commemorating events from the two wars many of which are restored to look the way they looked at the time some even with genuine weapons of the era. In this particular site in Tel Faher in the northern region of the Golan Heights one can visit the Syrian fortification that was captured by the Israel Defense Forces in the Six Day War. A fierce battle for this hill was fought mainly by the Golani Brigade and at the entrance to the site there is a monument bearing the names of the Golani fallen. The name was changed after 1967 to the Golani Look Out Post
