New York City, United States. 11th Nov, 2017. More than one dozen members of New Jersey's Oheb Shalom congregation gathered in Staten Island's Silver Lake Cemetery, which had been largely disused since 1909, to perform the Jewish mitzvah of maintaining the graves. Most of the cemetery's 13600 graves were interred under the auspices of the Hebrew Free Burial Association, which sill presides over the cleaning. Credit: Andy Katz/Pacific Press/Alamy Live News
