Bliss (Firm); Flowers; Plants; Vegetables; Gardening. EHCLISH'S GmPE-^SEOT A NEW ornamental variety of Tomato, originated by an amateur, Dr. Tliomas Dunai Engiislr, by crossing the little Red Currant Tomato with a large hybrid Tomato ot his own growing. It is a rampant grower, and should be trained to a trellis six or eight feet high, when its long clusters of waxy scarlet fruit and h-ely green foliage, pro- duce a charming etfect. It is edible, differing from the old Gheriy Tomato but little, except in its habit, and in having a rather sweeter taste. It is early, and veiy prolific, and the green To- matoes, pulled before the seed matures, make admirable pickles. There are two sub-varieties, the Grape-shot, (see engraving) having from six to twelve, or even more orange-scarlet fruit on each main stem, and the Sclialk, which carries from seven to ten light purplish-crimson fruit, the latter being rather smaller, and more elongated than those of the Grape-shot. As they bear the same general character, and seem to keep them- selves distinct the seeds were not saved separately, and the packets will probably contain both va- rieties. Either, however, is a striking and re- markable novelty. Tlie originator having grown this year merely for his own use, the seed can only be obtained from us. Price, 23 cents per packet; 5 packets for RED CURRANT TOMATO. It is the most ornamental of the whole series. In foliage and general aspect it resembles the or- dinary kinds, but it is smaller and more slender, and the fruits grow in long, drooping racemes. These long racemes of fruit, of a bright red color, give the plant a very beautiful appearance. This most ornamental species of Tomato has been received from M. Durieu de Maisonneuve, the learned director of the Bordeaux Botan
