A miner's axe, Saxon Electorate, dated 1687 Iron blade with several perforations, the smith mark "PH" and a small hammer head on the back. The fruitwood handle (somewhat wormy with a repaired break) is richly inlaid with engraved and blackened staghorn, including cartouches and geometric and floral decoration, with a crucifixion scene on the back. The elector on horseback, a coat of arms and the date "1687" are on the end of the handle.
