There appears to be a door in the north wall of this house near where the feed pipe enters, which would prevent running a coil the entire length of the house on the north wall, and perhaps some of the other coils would be cut off by cross-walks. Provision should then be made for a coil of three return pipes to be carried on the wall of the house from the door in the west end around to the door in the north side. To feed this coil, run a 1 Mi-inch pipe to the west end of the house from the 3- inch main. If any of the other coils are cut off by cross-walks, short coils may be run under the benches to be supplied at the west end of the house. In case the entire amount of radiation to be supplied in the west end of the house is in excess of 200 square feet, increase the size of the supply pipe to 2-inch. There should be no occasion for using a steam trap when the boiler pit is thirteen feet deep. COBBECTING HEATING PLAN. I have sent a sketch of our green- houses and general heating plans. We use a Krocschell steam boiler No. 36, from which a 3-inch main with 2-inch leads goes into the houses. We desire enough radiation to insure a 60-degree temperature in all the houses, although we keep only one house at that temper- ature. Would it be advisable to take another lead from the boiler for the new houses? If so, how much pipe and what size will be necessary? In the new south house, shown in the sketch, the pipes must be placed under the benches and in the house shown to the west the pipes will have to be placed under the west bench and on each side of the solid bed in the center, which lias concrete walls about twelve inches high. At present, water backs up into the ra- diators in the residence, when the boiler is being pushed. We should be grateful for suggestions as to how we may im- prove our system.
