WHEN on October 30, 1855, the goodand kindly Baptist minister at Sudbury,Suffolk, gave God thanks for the new life whichhad come to his home, he little thought to howmany the work of William Holman Bentleywould become a blessing. From a letter, writtenmany years after, it is clear that it was always hishope that his son would be called to the ministryof the Word, in which he himself found hisgreatest delight. Holmans father was the Rev. William Bentley,who came from the Midlands, and was educatedfor the Ministry at the Baptist College at Stepney,during the presidency of Dr. Angus.
