Bite and sting diagnoses. Array of photographs and sample containers being used to identify bites and stings caused by various insects and parasites. Those bitten by insects or other small invertebrates such as arachnids often don't know what bit them. Photographs of the bites help in diagnosing the cause, which can include bed bugs, ticks, fleas and mosquitoes. This research is being carried out by French entomologist Jean Michel Berenger, who works at the largest insectarium in Europe at the Mediterranean University Hospital Institute in Marseille, France, dedicated to emerging diseases.
