Craters of the moon A comparison of Meteor Crater with thecraters on the moon has led some scientists tobelieve that the latter were also caused by im-pact. While it is probably true that the major-ity of astronomers accept the volcanic theoryof the origin of the moons craters, there ismuch evidence in favor of the impact theory.
