The foreground shows a brook, its waters dividedby a little island, with shrubs and bushes growing amid the rocks onits banks. On the left is a tree, standing alone, its pale foliage tintedwith touches of russet pink. The central portion of the compositionshows mountain sides, full-timbered and enveloped in the pearly au-tunm haze. Over all is a sky of delicate gray.
