One hundred years ago hesent out the first band of settlers to the Red Rivercolony. It is the landing of these people thathas been protrayed on the frontispiece of thisbooklet and the memory of that landing whichis to be fittingly commemorated in the CanadianIndustrial Exhibition of 1912. In virtue, the founder not only of Winnipeg, this great city, but of the whole West, thememory of Selkirk is one to mention with ferventthankfulness to every dweller of these parts ofthe world. ^.
