Close up detail of a Sally Lightfoot crab (Percnon gibbesi) on a rock in the spray zone on Palm island, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. This crab is also known as Nimble Spray Crab. It hides in crevices along the splash zone where it can dash into the sea or for cover when danger threatens. It is one of the main foods for the Little Blue Heron which diligently patrol these areas. It is well adapted to its environment and being omnivorous tends to have a broad diet. It is often kept by hobbyists in marine aquariums to keep them clear of meaty food debris.
