Dunston Staithes is a wooden jetty on the river Tyne upstream from Gateshead in England, first opened in 1893 as a structure for loading coal from the North Durham coalfield onto ships. It continued in use until the 1970s, and has since been undergoing restoration after suffering fire damage in 2010. The Staithes are reputed to be the largest wooden structure in Europe, and are protected as a Listed Building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
