Forexample, a Fuegian mother has been seenwith her child in her arms, wearing nothingbut the little patch of seal-skin on the wind-ward side, and yet standing unconcernedlyin the snow, which not only fell on her nakedshoulder, but was heaped between her childand her breast, neither mother nor infantseeming to be more than ordinarily mild weather, or when the Fuegianis paddling or otherwise engaged in work,he thinks that even the piece of seal-skin istoo much for him, and throws it off.
