New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg in Times Square in New York on Monday, January 4, 2010 kicks off the "2010 Census Portrait of America Road Tour". The tour, which will feature several vehicles equipped with an interactive experience, will visit high profile events around the country to raise awareness and increase participation in the decennial census. The census is a count of everyone living in the United States, citizens and non-citizens. By law it is conducted every 10 years and the information is used to reapportion congressional districts as well as affecting the distribution of government funds. (© Richard B. Levine)
