Rich. Nicolls. The above curious document was the one that first created the office of Mayor in the city of New York,and the gentleman thus honored, Mr. Thomas Willett, was a merchant and trader. Mr. Thomas Delavall,another merchant, was Mayor in 1671; and Matthias Nicolls, a lawyer, held the office in 1672.
