Discovering the original colours used to decorate the Royal Pavilion at Brighton has involved painstakingly stripping away up 30 layers of paint from inconspicuous spots all over the Regency building Artist in residence Stig Evans spent four months exposing the 200 year old pigments and reproducing the colours so visitors can see them in their original settings Picture shows Stig examining his ultramarine and blue verditer on glass from inside the top of the Saloon Dome with its ornate windows
