A sabre for a sapper of the Imperial Guard, of the 2nd Empire. Slightly curved blade with fullers and a saw back. There are two oval marks on the ricasso with "B" under a star (Etienne-Louis Borson, Director at Klingenthal after 1814). A partially legible etching on the back "(Coulaux et Cie) Klingenthal". Heavy eagle head brass hilt, quillons with lion head decoration. Leather covered wooden scabbard with brass mountings and a lion head as a frog stud. Length cm. Very rare variant with the saw back.
