These organs are ven- tral, submedian, with bases approximate. Thev are. if we have correctly homo- r~^fv logized the parts, highly specialized in ^^ the Anophelinae, in which group they are linear, approximate and usually bear several divergent, spiny apical processes. These organs are remarkably diverse in structure and in Culex, as now restricted, are divided. The terminal falcate blade so conspicuous in Culicada appears to arise from near the base of the setaceous proximal portion.
