U Rohrdamm U-bahn Underground railway station interior on the U7 line in the Siemensstadt,Berlin. Part of the BVG Commuter network The station opened on 1 October 1980 when the line was extended from Richard-Wagner-Platz to Rohrdamm. It was the Western Terminus of the U7 until the line was extended to Rathaus Spandau in 1984. The name means ‘pipe’ as the street of the same name was laid out along a water pipe. The pipe gets it water from the Tegeler See and supplies the water works in Jungfernheide. When architect Rainer G. Rümmler designed the station, motifs from the nearby industrial Siemenswerke were integrated into the wall design. He used tiles depicting stylized gears and grids and supporting columns are covered in silver-grey metal cladding. The former headquarters of Siemens-Schuckertwerke and the switchgear high-rise building designed by Hans Hertlein and built between 1926 and 1927 are located above the station The station became a listed building in 2017
