The collector who tries to obtain these birds has a hard task as usuallythey are far back in the mountains and must be carried on pack horses formiles. Indeed, he is fortunate if, after having found one, it is not sittingon the brink of a precipice, where if shot it would fall to the bottom, manyhundred feet below, and be picked up a worthless mass. It is a fact greatly to be regretted that many hunters make a practice ofshooting these birds whenever an opportunity occurs. They have no usefor the bird, but kill it just because it is a rare one.
