Bad Wimpfen's Blue Tower (Blauer Turm) rises above the town square,

Originally settled in pre-Roman times, Bad Wimpfen was fortified by the Staufer emperors, in particular Frederick Barbarosa, in the 12th century. Over time the original walls were reinforced and towers raised. The town played a role in the Thirty Years War. This image shows the Blue Tower, used as a watch tower.
