The attitude is boldly conceived, simple and noble in character; and there is much calm dignity in the turn of the head, and the expression. The drapery is gracefully disposed, and falls lightly in easy folds. Altogether the work is one of no ordinary merit, doing honour to the producer and to the arts of the country'.
