The lines fell for his childhood in pleasant places, in anold world west-country town placed where the hills of Somersetdrop down into the plain of Wilts., called from the stream ofthe Frome and the forest of Selwood, each of which of old hasfurnished a name for an abbot of Glastonbury. But HenryDaniel, though nursed at Frome-Selwood, was not actually bornthere, but, as it chanced, at Wareham in Dorset on September 30,1835.
