The South Canal, as was called the pretty sheet of water between the Agriculture Building andMachinery Hall, was not on the great highway for boats, and so lacked a little of the variety of theponds and lagoons, but this deficiency, as the illustration shows, was well offset by its magnificentsurroundings.
