The individu-al in the possession of Dr. Mease, escaped from the vesselin which it was confined, and when found, several daysafter, was brisk and lively; and I am informed by MajorWare, that they are sometimes discovered two or threefeet under mud of the consistence of mortar, in which theyburrow like worms, as was instanced in digging near astreet in Pensacola, when great numbers were thrown upduring the winter season.
