, Nicosia, Cyprus - No man's land at the Checkpoint Ledra Palace Hotel. From 1974 to 2003 this sector was the only official border crossing between the Turkish North and the Greek South Cyprus. The sign on the building says Welcome to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), which is, however, acknowledged only by Turkey. The crossing is named after the once luxury hotel, since 1974 the headquarters of UNO Protective Forces UNFICYP. De facto it is a matter of the external frontier of the Community since the EU accession of Greek Cyprus. GT
