Supernova remnant , optical image. This supernova remnant was produced by a massive star that exploded in a nearby galaxy called the Small Magellanic Cloud. It is 200,000 light years away, in the constellation of Tucana. This visible light data is from the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) and the Very Large Telescope (VLT). The area covered by this image is around 400 light years across. Image published in 2018. For this image combined with X-ray data, see C046/3289.
