Stingray on a sandy seabed. Stingrays are common in coastal tropical and subtropical waters throughout the world. They feed on small fish and marine invertebrates such as snails, clams, and shrimp. Stingrays often feed as ambush predators, agitating the sand and hiding beneath it until their prey approaches. Photographed in the Pacific, in French Polynesia.
