PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug. 2, 2017) Fire Controlman 1st Class Zachary Gehrig aids as Fire Controlman Senior Chief Patrick Metzger fires a M240B machine gun on the starboard bridge wing of Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47) during a live-fire exercise. Rushmore is underway off the coast of Southern California participating in a series of qualifications and certifications as part of the basic phase of training in preparation for future operations and deployments.
