Pink-footed Goose (Anser brachyrhynchus). Captive bred. Wings raised and about to flap. Right wing is pinioned.

Pink-footed Goose (Anser brachyrhynchus). Wing flapping, revealing pinioning of right wing. A means of restricting flight and so permitting the keeping of waterfowl in expansive enclosues. An avicultural practice performed, under the supervision of a vetinary surgeon, on some recently hatched captive bred young. The tip of one wing is removed whilst bone is still cartilaginous.
