Oxford, England - 15 December 2019 Cornmarket Street has been a major commercial centre of Oxford for over 1000 years. It name derives from a corn storage warehouse that was originally located in the centre of the street. It remains OxfordÕs busiest shopping area today. Here we see its traditional Christmas decorations, with the Saxon Tower of at St Michael at the North Gate in the background. Not surprisingly, this stood at the site of the ancient north gate to the city.
