MOLASSES AND SYRUPS.—The. One Never Knows. firmness of the molasses market is againshown in an advance of two cents thisweek over the prices quoted in lastweeks report. This makes an unpre-cedented price and some of the jobbersare inclined to feel that there is noreason for such a tendency, particularlywhen the price of raw sugar is takeninto consideration. Two of the boats inthe carrying trade between the Barba-•does and points have been com-mandeered and this makes the situationregarding deliveries worse. An advanceof 3%c per hundred in freight rates hasbeen made-and this is a factor in firm-ing the market. The following pricesare marked up in accordance with thisadvance. Corn syrups are selling in fairquantities at the .prices quoted St. Lawrence refineries have issueda new list on their brand of syrups andthese will be found elsewhere in theproprietary lists.
