Gaston de Foix, duc de Nemours (1489–1512), French military commander famous for his campaign during the War of the League of Cambrai. He wears a laurel wreath, a blue tunic over a suit of armour, and rests his hand on a sword. From a sculpture by Agostino Busti preserved in the Pinacoteca di Brera, Milan (now in Sforza Castle). Handcoloured illustration drawn and lithographed by Paul Mercuri with text by Camille Bonnard from Historical Costumes from the 12th to 15th Centuries, Levy Fils, Paris, 1861.
