Myrmelachista rogeri Ernest Andre Dr. Mann describes the worker of the typical form of this species from Saetia (Oriente), Cuba as "black with the anterior margin of the head and mandibles reddish and the antennte and tarsi brown," whereas Andre gives the coloration as "deep castaneous, almost black; mandibles and anterior portion of the head more reddish; antennae, articulations of the legs and tarsi sordid ; Dr. Creighton has recently sent a number of specimens from the vicinity of Cienfuegos, Cuba, which seem to approach the typical form as described by Andre more closely than Mann's specimens. I therefore regard the latter as representing a distinct variety, which may be called manni var. no v. The following is a description of the worker and female from Creigh- ton's specimens: Worker. lycngth mm. Head subrectangular, only slightly longer than broad, slightly narrower in front than behind, with nearly straight, subparallel sides and straight or feebly concave posterior border. Mandibles stout and convex. Eyes small, flat, at the middle of the sides of the head. Cly-.
