Thousands of people flooded the streets of Thessaloniki to protest against efforts by Hellas Gold, a subsidiary of the Canadian firm Eldorado Gold, to mine the Skouries quarry on Mount Kakkavos, in the Halkidiki peninsula and the city of Kilkis in northern Greece.
