Early in life, while still a lad, an errant swarm of bees found its way into his father's garden, which, having been hived in a flat-topped skep, having a small window at the back, was a con- tinual source of wonder and delight to. sands of bee-keepers still who knew Mr. Abbott when he was entirely engaged in advancing bee-keeping, but there are many thousands now who only knew him by name, and by whom a sketch of his life will be welcomed.
