Every grave,—and we left 153 mensleeping there,—was marked with a white woodencross on which was placed the name, rank, organi-zation, date of death and grave number of the grave was raised and sodded and during thesummer months flowers were growing on the under Sgt. Udell were constantly working overthe plot until it was very beautiful with its gravelwalks, its well kept graves and many colored inspector from the Graves Registration Service. 101
