CONGO, 26th Sept 2012: Small-scale mining for gold, north west Congo. These miners are are digging for gold in a small river bank near their village. However, the process pollutes the river downstream. Larger mines attract people from other areas and which threaten the forest and wildlife as new settlers clear virgin forest and hunt for bushmeat.
